One of the recently discovered coffee regions, San Martin Jilotepeque is located in the Chimaltenango department, currently recognized by the ruins of Mixco Viejo. The varieties that are produced in this region are Bourbon and Typica.

ASPROGUATE began in 2014 lead by a group of organized producers located in Coban, Acatenango & Chimaltenango regions with the purpose to market quality coffees using fully organic practices. 100 producers were aligned to create the association. Soon, other producers in nearby areas heard about the project’s success and joined the exponential growth of the association. In 2016, offices in San Martin Jilotepeque were opened to centralize the operation
