This coffee was grown by Kenedy Lopez Ceron at the farm El Nido.
This coffee is harvested following strict ripeness criteria, floated and hand-sorted to remove any defects. Cherries were then exposed to 30 hours of underwater fermentation before being pulped. The parchment was then gently washed and then dried in temperature controlled
conditions until ideal moisture content was achieved.
This microlot is 100% Caturra. This variety originated in Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is a natural mutation of Red Bourbon. Caturra produces more coffee and is more resistant to plant diseases than Bourbon.
About Kenedy López
He was born into a traditional coffee-growing family and owns El Indio Farm, located at 1850 m.a.s.l in the La Unión Municipality, Nariño Department. He produces traditional varieties such as Castillo and Colombia. He also produces plantain, lime and yuca for self consumption.
He was fortunate to inherit a land where he could cultivate his own coffee. After a couple of years of success with his crops, he was able to expand his farm, allowing him to grow the production of exceptional coffee. He focused his efforts on quality, aware that this evolution would take time but would ultimately be worth it.
His wife, Adela, has always been supportive of his projects; she has played a key role in his process as a coffee grower. Over the years, his coffee has become a symbol of quality in his region and is recognized as one of the best.
