About Rugali

A short 30 minutes’ drive South from Kilimbi you will arrive at Rugali coffee washing station (CWS). Rugali is by far our biggest and busiest CWS hence nicknamed “The Big Daddy”. Rugali was our second station built in April 2016.

Rugali is also located at the shores of Lake Kivu and is surrounded by the thousand hills of Rwanda. Every Wednesday you will witness and experience the true feeling of real Rwandese culture and farm life as the Rugali markets take place. Cows, goats, chickens, pigs and fish are all brought in using various forms of transport by the local community for trading. Further to this, an abundance of organic fresh fruits and vegetables are also sold at these markets.

Rugali in its short existence has gone from being a small CWS to one of the most respected and impactful in its community. This comes down to the tireless efforts of our Rugali families.

Coffees from this station has been used in multiple national and international barista competitions. Rugali along with little sister Kilimbi were the first stations in Rwanda history to produce and export Natural and Honey processed coffee legally. This has now paved the way for other coffee producers in Rwanda!

About MTCo

Muraho Trading Company (MTCo.) is the brainchild of two brothers who were raised to call Rwanda home. We are driven to showcase to the world what Rwanda specialty coffee is all about. However, not only the coffee but more importantly the people and country that have given us so much. Rwanda has come very far from the horrific genocide against the Tutsi that took place in 1994 to the striving country it is today. This unbelievable turnaround is a huge credit to the Rwandese people and signifies the true meaning of HOPE to the rest of the world.

We are a young, innovative, trend-setting and fun company. With a focus of producing specialty coffees, we strongly believe in achieving something more personal in terms of the people, origin of Rwanda and showcasing to the world, the phenomenal quality of coffees this country has to offer.

Here at MTCo. people ALWAYS come first! If this sounds like values you believe in and want to join our journey in making a REAL impact to our Muraho families through specialty coffee, then Hobe Hobe Hobe to you! [‘Hobe hobe Hobe’ is this is what people say to embrace people into a community]
