Background: Matagalpa is situated in northern Nicaragua, among the mountains and the Grand River of Matagalpa is one of the three biggest coffee producing regions in Nicaragua. Other regions are Jinotega (home of the Santa Rita Estate stocked previously) and Segovia.
Matagalpa enjoys a prefect climate with an ‘Eternal Spring’ – temperatures sitting between 26-28c year round. Most coffees come from a collection of small farms as each estate is usually only about 3 hectares in size.
The area is dependent on Ecotourism with nature walks, hike and excursions most popular.
